One of the biggest factors for inflammation in the lower back is…

SLEEP

When you have lower back pain, it can be very troubling to find a comfortable position!  As a result, you’ll find yourself tossing, turning, waking up more, and waking up with discomfort.

We all know what it feels like to not get good rest, but imagine a lack of rest + back pain.

Sleep is one of the most important things you can do for your lower back, and overall body health, and it is responsible for recovery and regeneration of the body!

Those who tend to have more chronic and painful lower back long term, tend to be those who have higher levels of inflammation and do not sleep well!

So you really need to prioritize sleep if you want your lower back pain to feel better.  There are a lot of steps but here are just a few to get you started.

1. Make it dark in your room – Set yourself & your room up for sleep.  Avoid TV, noise, and lights before bed, and really make an effort to really wind down properly.

2. Go to bed earlier – since you are already having trouble sleeping & staying asleep, you’ll want to get into bed earlier to maximize your recovery!

3. Do some gentle movement exercises –  Movement can help soothe your back pain before getting into bed, remember, less is more.

4. Use a firm mattress or pad – A firm mattress can really help stabilize the spine vs. a plush mattress.

5. Use pillows – Support your spine & hips by placing a pillow between them,

KEEP MOVING
